According to the authors of this article, a number of barriers face those who wish to adopt person-centered planning. The authors provide a description and overview of how the principles of person-centered planning often conflict with organizational goals and practices, how organizational staff attitudes can impede the implementation of person-centered practices, and how the function of teams and team members in person-centered planning is drastically different than in other groups. Additionally, the authors describe how the issues of language, regulatory constraints, and resources often hamper the adoption of person-centered processes.
