Dunlap and his colleges used functional assessment procedures to identify variables that affected the performance of three elementary age students identified by school professionals as being "severely emotionally disturbed." The purpose of this study was to demonstrate that changes in the students' curriculum result in decreased disruptive behavior and increased task engagement. Please note the effectiveness of utilizing multi-component intervention strategies in classroom settings, and how curricular changes can result in positive outcomes for students with problem behavior.
